Thought for the day
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
- Matthew 7:7-8
The Council for World Mission (CWM) had organised a Pre-Assembly of CWM from 24 to 28 February 2020 at Hotel Lalith, Kolkotta. CWM had invited member Churches from South Asia namely the Church of South India, the Church of North India, the Presbyterian Church in India and the Church of Bangladesh. The Church of South India is represented by Adv. Fernandas Rathina Raja; CSI General Secretary, Rt. Rev. Dr. K. Reuban Mark; CSI Deputy Moderator, Mrs Dr Prema Sarojini F. and Mr Detto. The theme of the Pre-Assembly was “Raising to Life with Jesus and Breaking out from Babylon.” The keynote address was delivered by the Rev. Dr Praveen P. S. Perumalla, CSI- EMS Liaison Officer, drawing attention to the vibrant engagement of ‘Public Intellectuals’ in South Asia and need to struggle constantly against mutual indifference that paralyses solidarity. Dr Mathew Koshy Punnackadu, Hon. Director for the CSI Synod Department of Ecological Concerns, had presented a paper on ‘Life- Flourishing Creation,’ highlighting purposiveness in creation. Dr. Medaba Wanka from Presbyterian Church in India had presented a paper on ‘Life- Flourishing Societies.’ There were two Bible studied by Rev. Samuel John Shekar from the Church of North India on the sub-theme ‘Life- Flourishing Communities.’ These Bible studies had enriched by highlighting struggles of the early Christian communities. The leadership of Rev. Julie Sim, Mission Secretary for East & South Asia, Mr Stephen and the team associated in organising the pre-assembly is very meaningfully. A special word of appreciation to Dr Sudeptha Sing and Rev. Julie Sim. They had prepared members of the CWM Assembly from South Asia through Pre- Assembly and taken concerns from South Asia.Back
