Chennai: The Department of Mission and Evangelism, Church of South India, Synod along with Diocesan Missionary Prayer Band (DMPB) have organized a Missionary gathering on 17th December 2019 at CSI Church, Thottithurai in Kanyakumari Diocese. The meeting was stared with Holy Communion Service led by Rev. Justin Devadas, the General Secretary for DMPB. Rev. Maxcin John, Synod mission Director has shared the message. He told about the season of Advent and the reason behind the season is Jesus Christ. Like an experience of ‘Immanuel’ (Mathew 1:23), we should radiate ‘Immanuel-ness’ through our life to others. Our life must be rooted in Humility of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:1-6) and filled with service mentality (John 13:5). We must be the spokespersons of good news (Isaiah 61:1-3, Luke 4:18-19). Moreover, we need to tirelessly strive for the transformation of the living context through qualitative life (John 1: 1-14), he added.
“We need to be filled with new hope, new relationship, and new vision in the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ’, said, Rev. Y. Lawrence, Kanyakumari Diocese. He further added that not any construction of buildings, but building community must be the focus of our missional engagements. The life of the Missionary is more important when propagate the good news of Jesus Christ. We should remain as a watchman of the community. The credibility of the life is more important other than any outer expressions, he added.
Rev. Justin Devadas reminded the participants to maintain credibility, responsibility and accountability of the life. He furthermore added that our life must be the best medium to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. We should try the level best to be an example to others so that world may know the presence of Jesus Christ through our life, he added.
During the meeting, there were award distributions to the missionaries who have maintained the mission compound and the field as eco-friendly. The missionary gathering was the platform for enriching fellowship, mutual witnessing, empowerment and encouragement. There were 300 participants who have attended the gathering including Pastors, missionaries and their families. Rev. Ravi, Superintendent of Mission (SM)along with other Assistant Superintendent of Mission (ASM) and missionaries have organized the meeting in commendable ways.
