NCCI organizes National Ecumenical Youth Assembly 2018 from 7th to 9th November 2018 Youth

National council of churches in India organizes National ecumenical youth assembly for every four years. This year it was held at MarThoma Youth Retreat Centre, Adoor from 7th to 9th November. The theme of the assembly was “Fostering Reponsible Citizenry”. It was a gathering of around 200 people from various member churches of NCCI, 19 participants represented Church of South India in the conference held.

Rev. Dr. Roger Gaikwad, General Secretary NCCI, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulose Episcopa, Bishop Adoor Diocese, Mr. Jiantholung, Executive Secretary, Youth Concerns, NCCI, lead the inaugural session with welcome note, Episcopal greetings and gave introduction about the theme. Rev. Asir Ebenezer, Director, CSI-SEVA presented the key note address.

The youth assembly focussed on the being responsible citizens, sessions were interesting and youngsters actively participated on all workshops. There were 4 sessions held on various topics like atrocities on Dalits and tibals/adivasis, plenary on sexual minorities, ecumenical formation,  and accountability to peace building in times of intolerance, workshops was also conducted on the topics, religious fundamentalism and freedom of religions, atrocities against women and gender justice, understanding Human sexuality and gender identities towards inclusive churches, journey to the holy land, responsibility towards ecology and climate change and youth in ecumenical movement from orthodox perspective.

Cultural event was conducted after dinner, special school children and participants of member churches showed up their talents with various performances.
