Church of South India (CSI) East Kerala Diocese Sunday School teacher’s training camp was held at Kothamangalam on 19th and 20th November 2018. The main theme was 'Teach to Trust’. The inaugural session was presided over by Rev. Thomas George ( bishop’s commissary), and the camp was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Dr. K J Samuel, the former moderator of CSI. He emphasized the importance and role of a Sunday school teacher in mouldings a good citizen. He also pointed out the need to learn from Christ’s life.
A course completion certificate was formally released during the training to award to the graduating students of the senior class and it is made mandatory to join for the confirmation classes since 2019.
A memento was presented to all the teachers of Sunday school who completed 25 years of meritorious service.
Rev. Anilal M Jose, Rev S. P. Prashanth and Dr. Rag R. L. from the South Kerala Diocese led the classes. The sessions were mainly focused on the new Sunday School curriculum. Rev. Bijumon Joseph and Rev. Justin Moni felicitated the occasion. Rev. Suneesh P. Divakaran, Evg. Monu Kurien, and Evg. Ebenezer Gunaseelan led the singing sessions.
On the second day, the participants of the camp were taken on a trip to a dam site, Boothathankettu. Outdoor classes, group discussion and singing sessions were the highlights of the training camp. Evaluation and closing session were also organized in this outdoor area. Rev. James Mammen and Mr. A. M. Regimon Akkathakel were the programme convenors. Rev. Rajesh Parhrose (Children’s Board secretary), Presbyters who serve as the District Associate Secretaries, and other Clergies, Church Workers and Missionaries were present in the camp. It is the wholehearted support of our Bishop Rt. Rev. K. G. Daniel helped us to make this camp possible and a blessed one. Around 200 participants were present from different parts of the Diocese. We thank Kothamagalam St. James CSI congregation for hosting this camp.
