Celebration of Church of South India’s 71st formation day on 27th September, 2018 at Jammikunta Pastorate in Karimnagar Diocese
C.S.I 71st Formation day was celebrated on 27-10-2018 in Jammikunta Pastorate, Karimnagar Diocese. There were 500 above congregation members took part the celebration from different villages of the pastorate namely Bethigal, veenavanka, tekurthi, Ghanmukula, kanaparthi, Gaddepaka, Saidabad and also Huzurabad Pastorate. The Clergy from Karimnagar Group Church Council and Parkal Group Church Council Clergy participated in this great historic event. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Prof. K. Reuben Mark, Bishop of Karimnagar inaugurated the celebrations and Rev. Dr. Inderjit Bhogal from the Methodist Church London, UK participated as the chief guest.
We had a rally from Gandhi circle to our CSI St, Paul’s Church, Jammikunta. We all adored God in rally with slogans and shouting of praise by commemorating the bountifulness and blessings showered upon the Church of South India. The scintillating event of the celebration was that Women performed ‘kolatam’ a traditional folk in the rally and in the Church as well. When the procession reached the Church, Rev. Dr. Inderjit Bhogal hoisted flag of the Church of South India at Jammikunta Church. The significant events of the celebrations as follows:
Firstly, Rev. D. Sudheer Karunakar, Resident Presbyter of Jammikunta welcomed the Bishop, chief Guest, Clergy and congregation members to this event. The programme was started with opening prayer by Rev. B. Christopher, Honorary Diocesan Treasure of Karimnagar. The service was led by Rev. A. Swamy Pastorate Chairman, Jammikunta. The scripture portions were read by Dn. I. Jayaraj from Bethigal Church, Mr. A. Jayaraj Evangelist from Ghanmukula Church, Mrs. K. Mary Rajaratnam, Women’s fellowship secretary and Mrs. D. Chandrakala Sudheer Presbyter’s wife from Jammikunta.
Rev. Dr. Inderjit Bhogal from United Kingdom delivered the key note address on C.S.I Formation day by asserting that this day was a great historical day in the life of Church of South India and Karimnagar Diocese. He also expressed his greeting and wishes to all from the Methodist Church London and recalled the legacy of missionaries who came to India with a great vision and proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ. He exhorted, saying that “Keep your eyes fixed on Christ, let Christ be a role model and be good Disciples of Christ and emulate Christ like life. Recalling the words of Jesus, who said “if you want to see me and serve me, in as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” He encouraged that God is with us and God has to be seen in the faith of the poor and marginalized. He applauded the mission, ministry and developmental works of Karimnagar Diocese under the leadership of the Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Prof .K. Reuben Mark.
Rev. Shalu T Mathew Group Chairman of Parkal explained about the formation of Church of South India with the collaboration of Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational and Anglican traditions by setting a motto “That they all may be one.” And the composition and uniqueness of C.S.I emblem was highlighted to advocate equality in the Church of South India irrespective of caste, race, and gender. He brought greetings from Madya Kerala Diocese and Parkal and Telangana mission fields.
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Prof. K. Reuben Mark, Bishop of Karimnagar Diocese preached the word of God to strengthen faith of the people. He also observed that the distinctiveness of the celebrations which were conducted on account of C.S.I Formation day in Karimnagar Diocese in a grand manner with a historic rally and C.S.I Flog hoisting. After sermon, cake cutting programme took place, which was led by the Bishop of Karimnagar Diocese in order to remember the Church of South India 71st Birthday.
The felicitations and vote of thanks were conducted by Mr. D. Veera Swamy, Pastorate Secretary and Mr. E. Sunil, Pastorate Treasurer, Jammikunta.As the culminating point of celebration, our Bishop the Rt. Rev. Dr. Prof. K. Reuben Mark inaugurated the construction of new Church work at Jammikunta and the celebrations came to end with great sumptuous lunch. Further, in similar manner, all the rural and urban Churches of the Diocese observed and celebrated the CSI Formation day and offered prayers to God for God’s steadfast love, everlasting guidance and blessing showered upon the people of God.
