CSI Kollam-Kottarakkara Diocese Mission Fest and Convention- 2018 Kollam Kottarakkara

The first Mission Fest and Convention of the Kollam – Kottarakkara Diocese of Church of South India was held at Christhugiri, Varkala from 6th -10th March 2018. The railway route from the North East end of Kollam, (Thenmala) to the South West end (Varkala), which makes the boundary of our Diocese, brought our believers every day in the morning and took them back safely in the evening which proved to be a great blessing for the Mission Fest. Our convention stands unique being cohesive in nature which had prepared the platform for all the 6 Regional Bishops of Kerala for the first time at one occasion. The theme of our convention was “Arise, O Lord, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might” from Psalm 132:8, which is also the verse of the year of CSI Kollam – Kottarakkara Diocese proposed by our Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Oommen George.

The Inaugural Session of the Fest began with a Public Meeting on 6th March 2018, which was chaired by our Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Oommen George and was led by the Most. Rev. Thomas K. Maxcin John (Director, Mission – CSI Synod), Rev. Dr. Bhanu Samuel (Vice Chairman, KKD-CSI), Mrs. Aleyamma Oommen (President, WF KKD-CSI), Mr. Varkey Jacob and Er. Benedict Raja, (Diocesan Office Bearers) and other dignitaries. In the following session the former Moderator of CSI, Most Rev. Dr. K.J. Samuel, delivered the Keynote address. Maxcin John concluded the session with a stirring call for the mission. Rt. Rev. K. G. Daniel, Bishop of East Kerala Diocese gave the inaugural message who chaired the opening session on 8th March 2018. The fourth day, 9th March, was chaired by Rt. Rev. B. N. Fenn, Bishop of CSI Cochin Diocese who gave a motivating message on mission in the opening session that was followed by a blessed message by Dr. Benjamin George. Our Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Oommen George played a vital role in keeping the Mission Fest alive by his active participation throughout the convention. A powerful praise and fasting prayer session was led by our Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Oommen George. Rev. Dr. C. M. Varghese took the afternoon session and challenged the believers from God’s Word.  Final day on 10th March, Rt. Rev. Dr. Royce Manoj Victor, the Bishop of Malabar Diocese, chaired the morning session and delivered the Presidential Address. Mr. Cornell Nathaniel was the main speaker who gave a mind-blowing message on the importance of praying for the mission. The Mission Fest and Convention were concluded with a Holy Communion Service led by our Bishop in which Mr. George Cherian, Director, Missions India, spoke on the ark of God’s might and re-energized our spiritual life. All the five days, our diocesan choir rendered a sacrificial service through their melodious songs by keeping the spiritual atmosphere live from beginning till the end. We wholeheartedly thank the God Almighty who enabled us to conduct our first Mission Fest and Convention successfully. Glory be to God.
