Kasam Celebrating 100 Year Anniversary- 2020 CSI SEVA

CSI VELLORE DIOCESE
In the year 1919 Kasam Agricultural Institute (KAI) was build and established by De Valois’s with a dedicated Mission and Passion which he had towards Agriculture Ministry. Kassam consists of about 330.30 acres of land near Katpadi, Vellore Diocese in which he planned to establish an agricultural farm and for its farming training purpose to poor. On 3rd November 2020 Katpadi- Kasam Agriculture Institution celebrated its Centenary day.
CSI SEVA Director Rev. M. Benjamin Inbaraj and staffs Initiated a piolet visit to Kasam on October 13th 2020 with the guidance of Bishop in CSI Vellore Diocese to explore the possibilities and to utilize available natural and human resource in the area, region for the development future benefit of Kasam. After completion of transit walk and orientation with Bishop and the senior staff and pastors of kasam, CSI SEVA shared and discussed their views and possibilities of different project which goes along with the vision of De Valois, such as agriculture and training based activates.
CSI SEVA was invited on 3rd Nov 2020 kasam’ centenary day celebration at (KAI) along with Bishop in Vellore Rt. Rev. H. Sharma Nithiyanandham, Rev Isaac Kathirvelu - Chairman, Treasurer- T. Sundar Raj, Director- Rev. N Sampath Sadhanandam, Accountant- Prof. Tagu kumar, Church pastors and members. CSI Synod Youth Director Rev.Ch.John Nischal Kumar was special invitee.
Based on the observation visit on 13th October CSI SEVA- Program Executives of different projects such as Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Land Labour Life giving AgricultureJEDP, Disha- Disabilities Intervention and LCP – Interfaith peace initiatives were presented proposals for future plan and valuable suggestion focussing on the demand and possibilities in (KAI).
SEVA aims to network with local church, doners other institutions and possible schemes. Training grass root leaders and local congregation with hands on experience on sustainable agricultural techniques which includes, Organic farming, Piggery, Dairy, Beekeeping Extension & Community development etc., forming of women groups, involving people with disabilities and training centre for youth on disaster preparedness and emergency response.
