Thought for the day
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
- Matthew 7:7-8
CMS Mullackal Lower primary School of the Church of South India (CSI) Madhya Kerala Diocese celebrates two hundred years of imparting education to many generations. The school, which was established on the 14th August 1818, is the second oldest school in the Kerala State. Interestingly, another CMS School which is situated near to the Mullackal School and in the premised of the CSI Alleppey Church, CMS Compound LP School, is the first school in the state!
Rev Thomas Norton, the first CMS missionary who reached Kerala, is the founder of these schools. This great missionary started English education in the state.
In the initial stage of the Mullackal school, there were only 2 children! That number turned into 40 in 1821. Currently, there are 86 students in the classes from the nursery to the 4th standard and 7 teachers. The bicentenary celebration, which was postponed due to the floods in Kerala, will be inaugurated by Mr. C. Raveendranath, the Education Minister of Kerala, on the 26th of November 2018. Most Rev. Thomas K. Oommen will lead the function. Mr. T. J. Mathew IAS (CMS Schools manager), Mrs. Jaya Kurian (Headmaster of CMS Mullackal School), and Rev. Alex P. Oommen (Manager, Mullackal School) are leading the organising of the bicentenary celebration).Back
